Ebola virus research. Researchers collecting the skull of a colobus monkey (Colobus sp.) for virus testing. This is part of research sponsored by the World Health Organisation into the source of the Ebola virus. An unknown host that does not suffer the violent symptoms caused by Ebola in humans (and some other species, such as chimpanzees) is thought to carry the virus, acting as a reservoir between human outbreaks. Colobus monkeys, which have tested positive for the virus, are one candidate. Bats and rodents are also suspected hosts. Photographed in the Tai Forest, Ivory Coast, Africa.
