Caption

Tagging a turtle. Tag being checked on the flipper of a green turtle (Chelonia mydas). The tag will allow the turtle to be identified if encountered in the future, allowing information to be gathered about its movements and development since it was tagged. The green turtle is found in tropical waters all over the world. This green turtle is being released back into the sea after being treated at the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center at the Beachcomber Intercontinental Hotel, on the Pacific island of Moorea, French Polynesia. The centre, established in February 2004, is part of a program of sea turtle conservation. Sea turtles are endangered animals, and are protected under international law.
