Alarm clock, X-ray. This novelty alarm clock has a speaker (circular) in its head. The battery (lower centre, black) supplies the power for the electric circuitry (in body of alarm clock) and speaker. A simple switch is at lower right. A clock mechanism will keep time, and when it reaches the programmed time, will trigger the electrical circuit. It will then route power to the speaker, resulting in the loud noise of the alarm call.
