Caption

Hybrid bluebell (Hyacinthoides x massartianaa). This plant is the result of cross-breeding between the Spanish bluebell and the indigenous English bluebell. It shares characteristics with both species of bluebell, making its identification difficult. The hybrid is fertile and there is a fear that it poses a threat to the native species of bluebell. Photographed in North Berwick, Scotland, in May.
