Fruits rich in vitamin C. Selection of sliced citrus fruits that are rich in vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and nomilin. These include oranges, lemons, and grapefruit. Vitamin C plays a vital role in helping a range of body enzymes to work. It is also needed for growth and maintenance of bones, teeth, gums and blood vessels. Vitamin C is thought by many to strengthen the body's immunity against the common cold. Nomilin is a compound that gives citrus fruits a sour and bitter taste. Nomilin may help to block cancer.
