Raincoat material. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a cross-section through material used to make raincoats. The fabric is covered with a water-repellant coating which holds rain drops outside. It also contains pores which allow condensation formed by the body's own heat to escape from the garment. Magnification: x160 at 6x7cm size.
