Boiling kettle. Steam rises from an electric kettle as it boils water. Electric kettles contain a filament with a high electrical resistance. As an electric current flows through this the electric potential energy of the electron particles in the current is converted into heat energy. Water vapour is invisible, but its path can be seen because some it cools on contact with the air and condenses to form tiny visible water droplets.
