Collecting paint evidence. Tweezers being used to collect a piece of paint from a damaged car. The piece of paint is from another vehicle, left here when it collided with this car. Comparison of the paint with known paint samples can aid identification of the other vehicle. A whole paint chip, as seen here, may contain several different layers. This may further aid identification of the other vehicle, especially if several paint layers from repainting are found.
