Car crash reconstruction. Screen display of a three-dimensional (3D) computer model being used to reconstruct a car crash. The pattern and nature of the damage to one of the cars can be used to make this reconstruction, even if the other car did not stop. The reconstruction can help find the missing car by indicating how it was damaged. Paint flecks transferred between cars can also be used to work out which parts of the car collided. This can be used to check witness statements and to help with criminal and insurance proceedings. Reconstructions are also used in courts of law.
