Fingerprint that has been detected by the use of ninhydrin. This is a method of developing prints on a porous surface, such as this piece of paper. Ninhydrin reacts with amino acids. These are found in small amounts in the skin secretions that form a fingerprint. The developed fingerprint will be photographed and compared to prints on file and of other suspects, in an attempt to link suspects to a crime scene.
