Computer forensics. Scene of crime officer removing a computer for investigation. The officer is wearing protective clothes to prevent her contaminating the scene of crime. The computer is wrapped up in plastic to preserve fingerprints and any other evidence. Investigators will also be able to access the computer hard drive to examine the data stored there. This could include e-mails, pictures and videos, records of websites visited, diaries and address books, and memos and other documents. Computer evidence is commonly used when prosecuting cases of illegal pornography and other illegal computing activities, such as distributing computer viruses and unwanted e-mail adverts.
