Forensic research. Forensic scientist taking a sample from a cigarette butt to see if traces of DNA from saliva can be found. The sample is being placed in an Eppendorf tube. If DNA is found, it can be analysed and used to identify the smoker. This can determine whether the smoker was the victim, the perpetrator or was unrelated to the crime.
