Footprint lifting. Scene of crime officer (SOCO) lifting a footprint from a door at a crime scene. He is using a gel to recover the print. This technique is used to recover footprint marks on hard surfaces that were made by wet shoes. The gel lifter contains a thick, non- aggressive low-adhesive gelatin layer. Once lifted, the print is illuminated and photographed. The image may be used to match the print against a suspect's shoe.
