Antonina Nezhdanova (1873-1950, lower right), Russian opera singer, with Ivan Mikhaylovich Sechenov (1829-1905, centre), Russian physiologist. Nezhdanova was a famous opera singer, working in the Bolshoi Theatre from 1902. Sechenov is considered the father of Russian physiology, and was a Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Sechenov's wife, Maria Alexandrovna Bulova (lower left), was the first female physician in Russia. Photographed in 1904, in Moscow, Russia. The photograph is from the collection of the Nezhdanova House Museum.
