Elepter Luarsabovich Andronikashvili (1910-1989), Soviet physicist, in a laboratory. Andronikashvili, a member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, was Director of the Physics Institute of the Georgian Academy of Sciences. He carried out a famous experiment on liquid helium in the 1940s, and worked with both Kapitza and Landau, the physicists who received the Nobel Prize for their work on liquid helium. Andronikashvili wrote about this in Reflections on Liquid Helium (1990). Photographed in Moscow, Russia, in 1974.
