Reed mace (Typha latifolia). This plant, also known as cat's tail or bulrush, inhabits wetlands around lakes and slow-moving rivers. The large brown flower heads release huge amounts of pollen to the wind to pollinate other reed mace flowers. Photographed in Pennsylvania, USA.
