Dr David Cushman of the Squibb Institute for Medical Research, Princeton. Dr Cushman is one of the discoverers of an important new class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors, which are being increasingly widely used in the treatment of hypertension and heart failure. The origins of the discovery of ACE inhibitors lie in the venom of the South American pit viper Bothrops jararaca.
