Caption

Werner Heisenberg (1901-1976), German physicist, in Leipzig, Germany. Heisenberg was a founder of quantum physics, being awarded a Nobel Prize in 1932 for his matrix mechanics version of the theory of quantum physics. He developed the Uncertainty Principle in 1927. This stated that the more precisely the position of a sub-atomic particle is measured, the less precisely its momentum is known. This removed absolute determinacy (cause and effect) from physics, replacing it with statistical probability.
