Polo arriving at Hormuz. Coloured historical artwork of the Italian explorer Marco Polo (centre right, 1254-1324) arriving on the island of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf. Marco Polo set off for China in 1271 with his father and uncle. When they arrived they were received by the Mongol Emperor Kublai Khan in 1275.
