John Sulston. Portrait of Dr John Sulston (born 1942), British molecular biologist and pioneer of the project to map the genetic blueprint (genome) of the nematode worm, Caenorhabditis elegans. As part of this work, Sulston and Alan Coulson published a map of the genes found in C. elegans. Sulston and his colleagues also traced the development, from the egg, of each of the 959 component cells which make up the nervous system of a mature nematode worm.
