MODEL RELEASED. Biology lesson. African giant millipede (Class Diplopoda) crawling across the hands of a girl in a science lesson. This arthropod is a popular pet and school exhibit. Species of African giant millipede may grow to lengths of over thirty centimetres. In the wild, they inhabit  warm damp places of tropical and sub-tropical Africa. Giant millipedes are  detritivores, feeding on decomposing organic material.
