Common gorse (Ulex europaeus), also known as Irish gorse. This plant is native to Northern and Western Europe. It has been introduced to North America, Hawaii and Australasia, where it has been very successful. Growing on heaths and grasslands, the plant's height of up to 2.5 metres has given it an agricultural purpose as a "living hedge".
