Caption

Mantis shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus) at its burrow on the seabed, cleaning its eyes using its front legs. Mantis shrimps are neither mantis nor shrimp, but stomatopod crustaceans. This one is a smasher, so named for its club-like appendages, used to crack the shells of prey species. Filmed in the Lembeh Strait, Sulawesi, Indonesia.
