Pine trees. Pinus is a genus of about 100 species of evergreen coniferous trees found in almost all forest areas in the Northern Hemisphere. They vary from semi-prostrate shrubs to trees up to 250 feet high. The leaves are needle-like and in groups of two, three, or five bound at the base in a sheath.
