Parapoxvirus particles. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of Parapoxvirus particles (virions). These ovoid virions are characterised by the criss-cross pattern (blue) on their outer surface. Members of the Parapoxvirus group infect ungulates (hoofed mammals) and humans, often causing pustular lesions to develop on the skin and in the mouth. Magnification: x80,000 at 6x7cm size.
