Papillomavirus particles, coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM). Papillomaviruses typically cause warts in humans, and some kinds are associated with cancer, especially of the cervix. They reproduce by entering cells and hijacking their machinery, forcing it to make more copies of the virus. Magnification: x85,500 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
