Baobab tree (Adansonia grandidieri) in Madagascar. The Baobab can grow to a height of 30 metres and thrives in arid scrubland due to its large trunk which is adapted to storing water. The fibrous bark of the trunk can be up to 15 centimetres thick and is used to make rope.
