Amyloidosis. Light micrograph of a section through tissue from the heart in a case of amyloidosis, a condition where amyloid (a glycoprotein) deposits in body organs can threaten healthy function. The deposits can arise from several diseases or from a primary immune system disorder. The treatment will depend upon the underlying cause, but the symptoms for failure of organs like the heart and kidneys should also be treated. Magnification unknown.
