Caption

This colour enhanced coronal (frontal) MRI image of the brain shows a pituitary microadenoma (small red structure), is a common type of anterior lobe tumor of the pituitary gland (green) which measures less than 10 mm. When these tumors become larger than 10 mm, they are considered macroadenomas and are often present with endocrinologic abnormalities such as amennorhea (cessation of menstrual cycle) and galactorhea (expression of milk from the breast when the adenoma secretes excess prolactin). The cavernous sinuses are purple.
