Adenoid growths. Rhinoscope view of the inside of the nose of a child with adenoid vegetations. The adenoids are areas of lymphoid tissue at the back of the nose at the top of the pharynx (upper throat). Like the palatine tonsils further down in the throat, the adenoids can become inflamed and swollen. Here, vegetations (growths) have developed. If the adenoids continually cause problems, they can be surgically removed.
