Caption

Woman using an inhaler to control an attack of asthma or bronchitis. The device delivers a measured amount of a bronchodilatory drug, e.g. salbutamol, in the form of an aerosol which is inhaled by the patient. The drug causes the air passages to widen by relaxing the bronchial smooth muscle, giving rapid relief.
