Asthma attack. Thirteen year old girl using her inhaler to treat an asthma attack. Asthma is a lung disorder which causes attacks of wheezing, breathlessness and coughing. The inhaler dispenses a bronchodilator drug which widens the airways in the lungs, aiding breathing. Asthma usually begins in childhood and improves as the patient matures. It may be caused by an allergic reaction to dust, pollen and human and pet hairs.
