Caption

Breast cancer cells. Light micrograph of malignant cancer cells from a sample of human breast tissue. A cluster of cancer cells are seen with greatly enlarged nuclei (stained dark blue) and irregular shaped cytoplasm (light blue). Non-cancerous cells are seen with small, regular shaped nuclei and light-coloured cytoplasm. These cancerous cells are dividing (by mitosis-cell division) in an uncontrolled manner and will spread to neighbouring tissue and throughout the body unless treated. Treatments include surgery and anti- cancer drugs. Papanicolaou stained cells. Magnification: x40 at 35mm size.
