Inverted nipple. Close-up of the breast of an 80 year old woman showing an inverted nipple that was not caused by any underlying disease. Inverted nipples are normally developmental abnormalities. Correction may be achieved by daily drawing out of the nipple over several weeks. Inversion in a previously normal nipple should be investigated as it can be due to cancer.
