Metastatic breast cancer. Subcutaneous (beneath the skin) nodule on the back of a 54-year-old woman with breast cancer. This is a secondary cancer resulting from the spread (metastasis) of the primary breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women. Treatment is with surgical removal of the nodule combined with radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Scans will show if the cancer has also spread to other parts of the body, such as the lymph nodes.
