Cellulitis on the hand of a 65-year-old woman following a cat bite. Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of the skin and underlying tissues which causes redness and inflammation. It is often due to infection by Streptococcus bacteria, which enter through a wound or break in the skin, such as a bite from an animal. It is usually treated with antibiotics.
