Cellulitis on the tip of a 64 year old man's finger. Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of the skin and its underlying tissues. This finger became infected after the man cut himself with a bread knife. The affected area becomes hot, tender and swollen. Treatment is with antibiotic drugs to kill the bacteria. If an abscess has formed, it may be lanced and drained.
