Oral candidiasis or thrush (white patches) in the mouth of a 77-year-old woman. Candidiasis is a common fungal infection, usually caused by the fungus Candida albicans. It affects the moist areas of the body and is common in people who have been taking broad spectrum antibiotics or those whose immune systems are compromised. Candidiasis is treated with anti-fungal drugs.
