Tissue and medical thermometer. Tissues are used when the sinus and nasal membranes become inflamed during a cold or other infection, forming large amounts of mucus. A medical thermometer is used to measure body temperature. The thermometer scale is in both degrees Celsius and degrees Fahrenheit. The red arrow marks normal human body temperature (37 degrees Celsius; 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit). A rise in body temperature often indicates a fever, where the rise in body temperature is part of the defence mechanism against a viral infection.
