Swollen leg of a 72 year old man caused by a ruptured baker's cyst. A baker's cyst is a fluid- filled lump behind the knee caused by a build-up of pressure within the knee joint. It is often a complication of a disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis. Rupturing causes acute pain. Treatment is with drainage of the fluid and anti- inflammatory drugs.
