Subcutaneous calcinosis. Calcified nodule on the back of a 7 ear old boy. This subcutaneous (beneath the skin) nodule is formed of calcium deposits. It is a result of fat necrosis (death), which is caused either by the release of enzymes from the pancreas or gut, or by trauma to the fat.
