An overproduction of melanin (a skin pigment) is indicated by the small black areas around the periphery of the cell. The cell nucleus has the appearance of a fried egg, with a central dark nucleolus. Malignant melanoma is an aggressive form of skin cancer. Magnification: X 1,538 at 35mm size.
