Light micrograph of a blood film showing evidence of leukaemia. Leukaemia is a blood disorder in which the bone marrow or other blood forming organs over produce a certain type of white blood cell. These are immature & abnormal cells. White blood cells appear in this micrograph as purple ovals surrounded by the smaller dic-shaped red blood cells. The suppression of the normal production of white & red cells & platelets ultimately leads to anaemia.
