Cancer research. Female researcher placing flasks containing cultured human tumour cells into a tissue culture incubator. The cells have been treated with various combinations of anticancer (chemotherapy) drugs. They will be allowed to grow before being examined under a microscope to test the relative effectiveness of each drug combination. The incubator has the ideal conditions for tumour cell growth, keeping them at body temperature (37 degrees Celsius) in a humid atmosphere rich in carbon dioxide. Photographed in the laboratory of the Paediatric Oncology Unit of the Cancer Research Unit at Newcastle University, England.
