Caption

CT angiogram of the neck. Carotid arteries are green. Internal jugular veins are blue. The irregular shaped reddish areas over the carotid arteries correspond to extensive calcified arteriosclerotic plaque. The lobes of the thyroid gland are green. CT (Computed Tomography) can provide detailed images of the blood vessels. When people cannot undergo imaging with MRI (if they have a pacemaker or brain aneurysm clip) then CT angiography is a good alternative.
