Eczema on ear lobe. Close-up of eczema on the ear lobe. The skin is swollen and red; there is a break in the skin with bleeding where the lobe joins the face. There are yellow scaly patches of skin. Eczema is an inflammation of the skin, accompanied by itching and scaling or blisters. Usually the cause is unknown, but occasionally it is an allergic reaction. There are 4 main types of eczema. Atopic this usually occurs in childhood. Nummular which normally occurs in adults. Stasis ezcema that occurs in people with varicose veins and hand eczema which is an allergic reaction. Eczema is treated with soothing ointments and corticosteriod drugs are used.
