Eczema on a man's face. Close-up of an eczema rash on the side of a man's face. The rash, which is red and spreads from his forehead to his left cheek, is accompanied by small blisters that have become crusted. Eczema is an inflammation of the skin that usually causes itching and sometimes leads to small blisters that weep and become crusted. Often the cause is unknown (as was the case here), although it sometimes results from an allergy. The itchiness provokes scratching, which aggravates the condition. Treatment usually consists of a soothing ointment and a dressing. This patient was treated with hydrocortisone.
