Eczema around eye. Close-up of an eczema rash on the skin around the eye of a 15 year old girl. The area appears red and flaky. Eczema is a superficial skin inflammation characterised by an itchy rash and small blisters that may weep and become crusted. Scaling, thickening and discolouration of the skin may also occur. Excessive scratching can lead to infection. Eczema can occur for a variety of reasons, such as an allergy, but sometimes has no apparent cause. Treatment includes avoiding any known cause and the use of soothing ointments.
