Atopic eczema on a child's face. The skin is red, scaly and inflamed. Atopic eczema commonly occurs in childhood. It is an inflammation of the skin accompanied by itching and blisters. Often the cause is unknown. Eczema may be treated with soothing ointments and corticosteroid drugs.
