Brain and brain waves in epilepsy. This EEG shows focal epilepsy, where only part of the brain is affected, and the effects depend on the area affected. Here, the EEG shows chaotic activity in the left centrotemporal area (bottom two traces, left temporal lobe highlighted pink). Epilepsy can take many forms, and this is benign epilepsy, an inherited childhood form of epilepsy that normally improves with age. The rest of the EEG traces mostly show light, slow sleep.
